Silk scarves from Assam

We are delighted to have been able to commission some Eri silk scarves from Assam.

Eri silk is called the Peace silk as the silk worms are not killed during the collection of the thread from the cocoon. As the thread is not as long as that made from the Mulberry silk worm, it is slightly rougher in its handle, as the threads are spun together.

Silk keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. The village where our scarves are made start with caterpillars which are fed on leaves of the Castor plants, through to the cocoons hatching, the thread being spun and woven into beautiful scarves.Natural dyes are used to create soft pastel tones.Purchase these beautiful scarves from our website.
