Helping women become independent

Who would have thought that donating a sewing machine would lead to a small business taking root!

The charity project that I support in Delhi run an after school club for local children and those of itinerant workers. This allows both parents to work a full day whilst their child is in a safe and caring environment with somewhere quiet to do homework with teachers on hand. www.projectsunshineindia.org

One of the grateful mothers from Project Sunshine wanted to learn to sew and share those skills with other women. Aided by our design studio, she taught others to sew and bought recycled saris from street markets to make small bags.

This sustainable project meant that after the first few bags were sold she could easily afford the material for more. We at Nova India are proud to help with projects like this that can make a real difference. www.novaindia.co.uk
