The Fabric of India at the V&A

Nova India is thrilled to be involved in The Fabric of India exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London this Autumn 2015. The show highlights textiles from the V&A archives alongside modern day fabrics from all over India. Each section shows the production techniques that go into producing the complex and varied textiles of India. From silk production and spinning, weaving wool in pit looms to indigo dyeing, block printing and embroidery; all aspects of this incredible industry are covered. Nova India has had the good fortune to produce varied scarves and stoles for the exhibition shop so that visitors can take home a little of what they have seen in the exhibition for themselves to enjoy for ever. We have woven cutwork wool stoles in paisley patterns from the Punjab using old Mughal patterns; indigo dyed cotton scarves and resist dyed and printed Ajrakh silk crepe de chine scarves from Gujarat; hand printed and hand embroidered (Kantha work) silk scarves from West Bengal; ari embroidered silk coats from Kashmir and Sari jackets made from cotton woven fabric from the South.
